Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!! All 3 of these organizations played a part in Jay becoming ONE LESS child waiting in foster care. FIVE years ago this event brought us awareness and opened our eyes for us to get involved in this crisis. We weren’t sure what our role would be but Wylie and I both agreed we had to do something! After much thought, prayers and guidance we went through training with The Call (walks Christian families through opening their home up to either foster OR adopt) in the beginning we decided wanted to adopt a younger child around Becca’s age (who was 2 1/2 at the time) During our wait to get our home opened I started volunteering with Project Zero at connection events. (Events where waiting families and waiting children have the opportunity to meet and participate in fun activities put on by PZ) Months later, when it came time to open our home we were open to any age and gender. Seeing first hand the need for adoptive families for sibling groups and teens we opened our home to any age, any gender. We attended Project Zero connection events and even though that’s not where we first connected with Jay at; Christie and the waiting kids that attended the Project Zero events opened our hearts to older children. The day we received the call from Jay’s adoption specialist I had just gotten home from a foster/adoptive moms breakfast through Immerse. (Immerse helps kids aging out find stability in the world and gives them hope that they need to become an adult without having a forever family to help them) but they also provide services for adoptive parents... that morning I had asked for prayers before we dismissed, our hearts were broken because we were told no for a little girl WE thought would be perfect for our family so I had asked for prayers for our hearts to be open for the waiting child that was meant to be a part of our family. That afternoon is when I got the phone call from Jay’s adoption specialist. I never thought we would say “yes, we’d like more information” about a 14 yr old boy but after months of God preparing us through these organizations that’s exactly what we did! That year we walked for Jay and the other waiting kids that impacted us, with the hopes that Jay would soon be joining our family. In 2019 Jay’s adoption was finalized and he walked with us that year! Now, you have the opportunity to walk with us virtually for the 2nd year in a row, join us from your living room, local park or neighborhood! Our family is so blessed to have so many people on our team!
With your donations, prayers and help together we are supporting The CALL, Immerse & Project Zero as ONE TEAM, ONE DREAM: NO MORE WAITING KIDS! Every HEART needs a HOME
